Winter Reflections

Winter is held in the cavern of your mouth
echoing—
there is beauty here.

As a foggy flower of warm breath blooms
in the cold air.
And trees creak,
stretching out in morning yawns
and singing the memory of their leaves.

This season beckons reflection and quiet.
A stillness that is anything but idle.

Winter arrives, an alchemist carried on
the back of east winds.
Whispering—
there is beauty here.
