Summertime is quickly drawing to a close (did it fly by this year, or is that just us?!) but there’s still time to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life before heading into the fall season. If you aren’t able to hop on a plane to a faraway destination, have no fear – relaxation and luxury can still be found minutes away.

Use these tips to help plan your perfect staycation, a time crafted just for you so that you can relax and enjoy some R&R without having to leave the comforts of your own home or city.

Book A Local Hotel
If you live near (or in) a big city, chances are that here are tons of cool hotels in your neighborhood that you’ve never had the chance to discover simply because you haven’t had reason to stay any place other than home. Boutique hotels are popping up in cities left and right, and a staycation could be your time to take advantage of the unique spots your city has to offer.

Use the app Hotel Tonight to score last-minute deals on awesome spots in your city (just enter in your zip code and peruse the daily offerings available in your neck of the woods). Book a room for one night (or a few) and indulge in the comforts of a hotel – room service, fluffy robes and cozy beds, to name a few. You’ll leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Bonus: a short drive time to get back home!

Spa Day
We may take time to treat ourselves to little luxuries like manicures, pedicures, and massages from time to time, but as you plan a staycation for yourself, consider booking an entire day’s worth of treatments at a great spa in your city. Depart from the norm and indulge in those treatments you may have always wanted to try (Full body scrub? Scalp massage? Moisturizing body wrap?), reveling in the new experiences and a day full of pampering.

Don’t have the cash to spend on several treatments all at once? Most spas have tons of great amenities – steam rooms, swimming pools, healthy snacks, refreshing beverages, relaxing spaces to lounge – that are available to guests even if they just book one treatment. Pick something you’ve always wanted to try and spend the rest of your day enjoying the perks that come along with the spa.

Hunker Down at Home
For some of us, there is no better way to recover from a busy schedule than by spending a few days relaxing at home. Do a little prep work to ensure that you won’t have to spend your time off running errands or doing chores – clean your space, stock up on groceries (including snacks, wine, and other treats), load up your Netflix queue, and put away your cell phone. Get in your comfiest clothes and spend time doing whatever it is you would be doing on a vacation: reading, cooking, watching movies, napping, all without contemplating your to-do list. This time at home is not meant to remind you of all of the things you have to do; instead, it’s supposed to be a vacation from your daily tasks, a chance to rest and recover without having to leave the comforts of your own home.

How would you plan your staycation?
