Here’s a floral twist on a Cinco de Mayo favorite. We know that nothing quenches a springtime thirst quite like a freshly shaken margarita, but why not go a step further and garnish it with a few edible flowers? Lilacs are wonderfully fragrant and their dainty blossoms are the perfect way to add just a hint of loveliness.

Try incorporating a few of these organic blooms to your next glass!

Lilac Margaritas 1 (1024x685)

Lilac Margaritas
(Makes 2 Cocktails)

2 tbsp lilac simple syrup (recipe below)
Juice from 4 organic limes
Juice from 1 organic orange
Juice from 1 organic lemon
4 ounces tequila
Handful of ice

Place all ingredients in a large cocktail shaker. Shake! Pour into two salt-rimmed tumblers of your choice. Garnish with organic lilac flowers. Serve with homemade avocado crema and tortilla chips.

Lilac Simple Syrup
1 cup organic sugar
1/2 cup filtered water
1 tbsp organic lilac flowers

Place sugar, water and lilac flowers in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened into syrup. Remove from heat and allow cooling. Pour into a clean, airtight container and store in the fridge. Lilac syrup is delicious drizzled on chocolate ice cream or homemade buttermilk + rose salt crepes … enjoy!
