One fine stay

Hostessing is an art, especially if you’re aiming for a Pinterest-gone-viral dinner party. It’s an art that requires pampering your guests from the moment they arrive, a fine eye for tablescaping and a killer menu paired with stellar table talk. So wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a way you could pull it all together sans the stress of planning, prep and clean up (aka, no dishes)?

We’re talking about the ultimate dining experience that lets you actually enjoy your party. It combines the hosting talents of onefinestay and Kitchensurfing: two fantastically disruptive startups. With a shared passion for food and hospitality, they recently hosted a series of unique, intimate dining events at beautiful homes all over Los Angeles. Basically, it’s total Instagram eye candy — just search the hashtag #homecookedla.

There have been events such as a yoga and brunch hosted by How You Glow and Chalkboard Magazine with chef Stephanie Matthias, as well as a dinner hosted by Because I’m Addicted’s Geri Hirsch and Bri from designlovefest — all created to combine two things we love: good design and delicious eats.

Kitchensurfing has a roster of the world’s most talented chefs and connects you directly with one for a Michelin-worthy dining experience at home or in your backyard (you even work on the menu with the chef!), while onefinestay has deemed itself the “unhotel” and lets you stay in someone else’s home while keeping the best bits of traditional hotel service. We are already dreaming of an epic dinner party in a Parisian onefinestay loft for next year’s birthday … le sigh.

So, while we all know that we’re fully capable of playing the perfect hostess, every now and then it’s nice to just sit back, relax and let the professionals do the work. Leaving only two things for you to think of: the Spotify playlist and a solid cheers.

  1. This is one of the most marvelous concepts I have seen in a while. I adore the simple combination of decor and cuisine. Parties are such a delight to host but oftentimes turn into a nightmare to service. These two companies allow for fellowship to occur in community that stands among beautiful surroundings. The effort is therefore placed on conversation and not the timing of appetizer to entree.
