Hail summer, hail bright Julys
Hail halos in our hair
And night skies with fireflies

Hail heat in our bones
Hearts in our hands
And heroes in our homes

Hail red, white, blue
Hail days gone by
And the future, too

Hail holding on
And holding out
For daybreak’s dawn

Hail heaven’s hopes
Dreams held close
And freedom, still, and always.

Happy 4th, Darlings.

  1. Happy 4th everyone! I’m not an American but I just loved this poem – beautiful writing, beautiful sentiments. Thank you.
