Retro-pop with an island twist, singer Christie Brooke doesn’t produce anything that you’d expect. Though talented, of course, her voice surprises you with its range; it seems to carve out new spaces in the air, forming captivating punches and beats, transporting you to an era of early jazz laced with a coolness Amy Winehouse would be proud of.

Self-releasing her #FirstLove EP (that you can preview below), Christie Brooke’s mission is to fearlessly inspire dreamers everywhere to chase what seems impossible, wherever the wave leads. Give her story a read and her tracks a listen, and see if you aren’t just a little more amped to take on the day ahead.

A note from Christie on the inspiration behind her craft:

Experience is my muse.  Funny, but true.  Once I learned to listen to the lessons in heartbreak, in joy, in the mediocre, and in the ambiguous, I found a way to be a student of change, to welcome growth, all while crafting a memoir of melodies to help me sing along and process through.  Being in LA, we hustle in a city where ambition runs wild, where dreams are as easily anthems as they are laments.  I’ve anthemed and I’ve lamented, but I am inspired by the space in-between, by the possibility of what’s next.  These songs are my thoughts in-between love, loss, and triumph.  My strongest hope is that we’d ask ourselves with childlike curiosity what our first loves are and while we discover them, we’d remember: anything is possible — even a ten year old asking for retro records while Britney was selling out.  Yep, that was me.  I will blame Frank Sinatra for my jazz habits.  Who doesn’t want to have the world on a string?
