We are bringing “Darling Letters” from your inbox to the blog! We love the art of letter writing and believe it helps build authentic community. Our editors and contributors have thoughtfully written encouraging letters to cut through the busyness and speak straight to your heart.

Gradually, my virtual community groups ended. As intimate as they had been (even through a screen), I still found myself exhaling with relief for my newly wide open evenings. I was thankful to begin filling my planner with in-person gatherings.

The shift had come. I thought it would be scary, and it was, at first. So much has transformed within me this year that I searched out new community and sifted through my current relationships to determine who could continue to grow with me.

Being 30 and single, I’ve learned how vital intentional gatherings are for my well-being, especially as the seasons change (both literally and figuratively). Settling into cooler temperatures and shorter days, I’m prepared and unafraid knowing that I have people with whom I can plan cozy nights in with and whose internal warmth I will be able to count on. Through whatever misfortunes may come, I know I will not face them alone.

As I fill up my planner once again, my heart is comforted. We were created for this — arm-in-arm community with other human beings. Nothing quite beats a hug and feeling the warmth and nearness from another person who cares for us.

As we enter into fall, let us regroup our people. Let us gather around ready to give and receive care as we head into cooler days full of relational warmth and comfort.

With warmth,
Cristina Amaro, the Darling family

What are you most excited for with in-person gatherings back for the fall and the holidays? How can you show up for someone who may be feeling isolated or lonely?
