If you’ve traveled at all, then you know it comes with all kinds of restrictions. In the flux of travel, we often have to improvise and change our routines. While good skincare and health are connected to consistent sleep, hydration, nutrition and exercise, that’s hardly helpful when you are in a crunch.

Is it possible to maintain your skincare routine while you are traveling for work or leisure? How does one look refreshed and glowing at the next stop?

Here are some quick beauty tips you need to know to look good on the go:

1. Pack products that are multipurpose.

The more multi-use products you can incorporate into your skincare routine, the simpler things get. A moisturizing lip tint, like the Henne Organics Lip Tint, can double as eyeshadow cream or blush.

“To take up less space in my cosmetics bag, I love packing key products that have multiple purposes,” explained professional makeup artist, Francesca Giaimo in an interview with Darling

Giaimo agrees, using her lipstick as blush on the go.

“Just dab sparingly onto cheeks, and you’ve got a perfectly coordinating color,” she says.

Another product you can combine? Moisturizer. Lock in the moisture with a versatile oil that can cleanse and nourish your skin such as jojoba oil. It can be used as a cleanser, moisturizer or both. Giaimo even uses jojoba oil as a makeup remover and highlighter. That’s 4-in-1!

2. Don’t stop hydrating.

With frequent travel and a lack of bathrooms, hydration can slip down your priority list. Sipping water frequently can keep dehydration at bay, but did you know your skin gets dehydrated too? Nutrient-dense spritzers, such as Little Barn Apothecary’s Coconut + Mint Cooling Mineral Mist mist, are filled with properties that refresh your skin (and smell good). Just remember to pack the travel-sized containers.

In-flight masking has gained a lot of media attention in the beauty sphere and for a good reason. Airplanes are notoriously harsh on skin, with a humidity level lower than the desert. Opt for a nourishing, moisturizing face mask infused with nutrients.

Self-conscious that the flight attendant will give you strange looks? Don’t be. They’ve seen much stranger things, and you’ll be surprised at how refreshed your skin feels when you step off the airplane. Flying coach never looked so good.

3. Make it pop.

When it doubt, bring the focus to one area with a splash of color. A vivid lip balm, such as this red one from Olio E Osso, can brighten your look. Try spicing things up with statement accessories like earrings or a scarf.

“Never underestimate the power of a red lip and a silk handkerchief,” said Giaimo. “These two items will up your style game instantly. I always have a statement red lipstick and handkerchief in my bag. Instant chic!”

Don’t know if you can pull something off? You’re traveling! This is the perfect time to try out a bold new look among strangers.

May these beauty hacks take you as far as you wish to go, and may you never forget that beauty has more to do with what’s in your mind than what’s on your face. If you treat the people you encounter in your travels with kindness and leave places better than you find them, then you’ll be remembered for far more than your face.

What beauty tricks do you have when you are traveling? How do you keep your skin vibrant and lively when you’re on the road?
